Description:
Small boxes can hold big wonders—perfect for safeguarding artist book creations, treasures, and field findings. This one-day workshop is a great introduction to the versatility of boxmaking and building a tray and an enclosure—a drawer box style matchbox—to house it. Together, these elements form a beautiful and functional set, full of creative potential.
This workshop is welcome to Advanced Beginner to Intermediate and will explore the principles of multi-component box construction and discover how these techniques apply to other practical box forms students can create at home. From the more intermediate student, the interior tray can include a divided compartment, allowing each set to become a one-of-a-kind treasure.
This course requires basic bookbinding experience, including knowledge of gluing, measuring, working with bookboard and cutting (paper, bookcloth). This foundation allows students to focus on the creative aspects of binding and boxmaking, ensuring a fulfilling and enriching workshop experience.
