PLEASE NOTE: The kit included in this online workshop includes shipping, handout instructions, pre-cut bookboard, frame pieces, bookcloth and paper pieces (templates), as well as some specimen pieces to work with.

This 2 session advanced beginner course is a unique crossover between a book, box, and dimensional collage. It allows for students to include a miniature card/booklet and focuses on showcasing an individual’s visual collection of natural curiosities. The miniature specimen structure will include a hardcover book with a decorative frame and inset panel measuring 4.5h x 3w x .5 depth in size.
The first session will be creating the book covers and the second session will be building the frame panel, covering it will decorative paper, and techniques for specimen preservation, inclusion and alterations.
Students are encouraged to use an assemblage of historic illustrations, found objects, altered book components and natural artifacts. Bookmaking, collage techniques, methods for including text and miniature books will be covered.
