Miniature Specimen Box | Rain Writers | December 3-5, 2026

This 1-day advanced beginner course focuses on showcasing an individual’s visual collection of natural curiosities. The miniature specimen structure will include a hardcover book with a decorative frame and inset panel measuring 3x4.5x1/2” in size. 

Using an assemblage of historic illustrations, found objects, altered book components and natural artifacts, participants will explore possibilities for adding found or handmade materials and written content.  Bookmaking, collage techniques, methods for including text and miniature books will be covered.  As part of this course, we explore using narrative themes in our work, as well as methods for incorporating text and miniature books within the framework.
