Workshop Description:
This book's structure emphasizes the intersection of traditional and invention bindings. Wooden boards are finished with layers of historical milk paint, resulting in richly textured and distressed surfaces. The leather sewing supports echo historical bindings while offering an artistic variation that makes each book truly one-of-a-kind. Through this blend of surface, structure, and color, students will discover how to merge historical techniques with contemporary expression. The structure has many applications that can give students ideas and inspiration about how to take this book to the next level in their artist book practice.

This workshop requires somewhat extensive sanding and other hand skills, which may be challenging for some folks. Inquire if you are not sure if it is a good fit.
