Saying Goodbye

Title: Saying Goodbye
one of a kind artist book
Book Size: 4.5 x 6 x 3
Mediums used: red silk fabric, treated fox rib bones, collage papers and silk thread, acrylic white paint

This book is an abstract letter to a dear friend who committed suicide. In the years after his death, I carried the words I never had the chance to say, alongside the truths I told myself in his absence.

Each page is crafted with soft, silken fabrics and hand-sewn elements, inviting the viewer to feel both the intimacy and care imbued in its making. The painstaking process of fraying the edges and sewing over the bones of the spine became a meditative act, a way to trace the fragility and resilience of the body itself.

The book embodies the duality of unresolved loss—the rawness of grief alongside moments of quiet comfort, the sharp ache of absence softened by the thought that he is in a better place. Through tactile folds, layered textures, and gentle gestures of stitching, the work becomes a space to hold memory, mourning, and solace all at once.
